Contender Series play starts this week
The gaming Trailblazers enter the esports season with NCJAA Premier Series (Tier 1) facing top level competition.
Nick Oakley, of Chesterfield, posted a 0-2 record in Super Smash Brothers facing off against Northwest Florida State College and Union College.
“Nick is looking to get in the win column in his Week 3 match-up against Mott Community College,” NETC Esports Head Coach Tyler Nolan said.
On Madden, Billy Thompson, of Cheraw, sits at 1-1 after two weeks of play due to a forfeit in Week 1 but lost a close one to Carl Albert State College in Week 2.
Billy takes on a player from Dallas College - Eastfield in Week 3.
The Contender Series (Tier 2) begins the week of Oct. 2 with the Trailblazers fielding teams for Call of Duty 4x4, Overwatch, and Warzone, along with Madden and Super Smash Bros.
NETC athletes play under the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Northeastern Technical College athletes must maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average and 12 credit hours for the semester. Under the NJCAA rules, there are no age caps for participation.
