Summaries of timely road safety news, events, and alerts

Message from NETS' Executive Director,
Susan Hipp

Don’t you hate it when something you use every day breaks? It’s always a question of “do we fix it?” or “do we get another one?” I grew up with a father who was an engineer and could fix anything (including the lawnmower that caught on fire that he wasn’t ready to give up on!). So, in my household, we’re a fix-it family. Often, that requires diagnosing what the problem is in order to make it work again.

How do you address problems in your fleet and “fix them in order to make them work again”? Are you diagnosing the issues and finding the root cause to problems? Or are you “throwing the lawnmower out because you figure it’s damaged beyond repair” and just ignoring the issues?

If you have challenges in your fleet safety program, I invite you to join us at our annual conference in Atlanta in October. The conference will address many of the challenges and issues you face in your fleet and will lead you to ways you can accurately diagnose the problems and correct them through expert insights and networking with other fleet safety professionals.

And while you’re at it, take advantage of the Professional Development Seminars being offered for the FIRST TIME EVER at NETS Conference! These seminars will not only help you diagnose any problems, but will give you the right tools to make your fleet safety program even better than it was before! Topics being offered are:

  • ASSP’s Incident Investigation
  • ASSP’s Safety Through Accountability and Recognition
  • CEPA’s Comprehensive Driver Safety Program
  • Driver Direct™ with The Smith5Keys®
  • Making Safety Happen
  • National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving
  • Technology for Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) Prevention
  • What Makes a Great Leader Great

Keynote presenters have been announced and the full program is coming soon. I encourage you to register for both the Professional Development Seminars and the conference before space fills up!

And now I think I’ll go mow the lawn with my working lawnmower.
