Summer is almost here for those of us in the northern hemisphere. 92 days of glorious sunshine, road trips, lazy weekends by the pool, and grilling. Unfortunately, due to the tragic event here in the United States this week, there are 19 children and two adults who will not get to experience this summer, or any summer, ever again. Lives lost too soon.
It feels hopeless to make a dent in those numbers ꟷ but that is precisely what the Decade of Action 2021ꟷ2030 for Road Safety aims to do. In September 2020, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the ambitious target of halving global road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.
NETS, along with our members, Sponsors, and other road safety advocates and partners, is working toward that goal because even one life lost to a road traffic fatality is one too many.
I invite you to join us in our mission of advancing global road safety by participating in one of our upcoming events:
-
NETS Annual Strength IN Numbers Fleet Safety Benchmark Conference: Share road safety case studies, new research, and emerging issues; review NETS annual STRENGTH IN NUMBERS® Fleet Safety Benchmark Report; gain exclusive access to industry-leading Road Safety Sponsors; and network with other conference participants which include NETS member companies from diverse industry sectors.
-
Virtual NETS Agriculture Sector Meeting: Open to all NETS members and Sponsors to collaborate and discuss sector-specific road safety perspectives relevant to ALL employer fleets from industry leaders. (Not a NETS Member? Find out more about NETS membership and consider joining today to take advantage of the many members-only benefits!)
-
Private Sector Global Road Safety Webinar: Benchmarking global road safety ꟷ a private-public best practice on improving road safety. The webinar, hosted by NETS and the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF), will focus on the role and influence of the private sector in advancing global road safety, and the opportunity for private sector organizations to become more engaged in global road safety goals.
Safe road travel is a human right. It's going to take us more than the next 92 days of summer to get to zero road traffic fatalities, but through collaboration we can get there ꟷ one flipflop step at a time.

UPCOMING WEBINAR FOR
PRIVATE SECTOR ORGANIZATIONS

Benchmarking global road safety:
a private-public best practice on
improving road safety
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1.3 million people die annually from road crashes across the world and another 50 million suffer serious life-changing injuries. Over 90% of road deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. The Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021 - 2030 aims to reduce global road traffic deaths and injuries by at least 50% during that time period. Though governmental agencies have the primary responsibility to design a safe road transport system and implement a road safety action plan, the role and influence of the private sector is increasingly recognized as an important part of the Safe System.
You're invited to join NETS and the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) for a moderated roundtable discussion on the Road Ahead to Improve Global Road Safety: How the private sector has an opportunity to become more engaged in advancing global road safety, including the use of benchmarking by companies. NETS will introduce five new benchmark focus areas in support of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021 - 2030.
Tuesday, June 28 from 9:00am-10:30 EDT

"Secure your load as if everyone you love is driving in the car behind you." Did you know a 20 pound object at 55mph has a force of 1,000 pounds at impact? National GAO report states unsecured loads cause 440 deaths, 10,000 injured and 51,000 incidents. Driving with an unsecured load is both against the law and extremely dangerous.
