As we look ahead to the final days of what has clearly been a unique and challenging year, I am hopeful the past several months have also been balanced with a variety of success stories and positive road safety endeavors across your respective organizations. I also hope everyone has remained safe and healthy during these difficult pandemic times as well. In situations such as these it is easy to be pulled away and preoccupied by daily events which can add even more complexity to our vital day to day road safety efforts.
With the dust having settled on what amounted to be one of our most unique and successful NETS conferences, I want to send one final THANK YOU to those who were able to join our virtual event. In addition to record setting registration, what was even more impressive was the passion and enthusiasm displayed during the three-day conference and NETS is grateful for the efforts of everyone who helped make the proceedings a success. For those who participated, it is also worth one final reminder that that recorded presentation sessions will continue to be available through the conference platform, Whova, until the end of the year.
With 2020 soon coming to a close, final arrangements are also being made to launch our first ever NETS Drugged-Impaired Driving toolkit as part of our Drive Safely Work Week (DSWW) campaign series. The initiative is designed to highlight the tremendous impact drugged driving plays – on a daily basis – on safe and responsible behaviors behind the wheel. As highlighted during our virtual conference, recent legalization of Cannabis across the U.S. as well as globally poses a significant role in roadway risk to drivers, passengers and pedestrians alike. The Drugged-Impaired Driving campaign materials will be a unique and value-added opportunity for employers to engage and educate employees regarding this important issue. Be on the lookout for the campaign launch announcement in the coming weeks!
Thanks again for your commitment to road safety and I wish you a safe and healthy remainder of the year.
