Summaries of timely road safety news, events, and alerts
Message from NETS' Executive Director, Joe McKillips
Greetings Road Safety Colleagues,

While the past several months continue to be a challenge for many with the ongoing pandemic, it is also great to see the return to a sense of normal in many day-to-day road safety responsibilities. That said, I wish everyone continued success as we further our efforts within this unique and challenging environment.

Here at NETS, we find ourselves less than a month out from our VIRTUAL Strength IN Numbers® Fleet Safety Benchmark Conference and just this week released our full conference agenda. We have been working hard behind the scenes to finalize arrangements for what is certain to be an amazing virtual event. Not only are our proceedings filled with a number of highly sought after keynote speakers, but our plenary sessions, comprised of NETS member and Sponsor presentations, will highlight a multitude of current road safety issues sure to inspire many discussions. This year’s event will also be highlighted by a dedicated SPONSOR DAY providing our NETS Sponsors the opportunity to share the latest SOLUTIONS their companies offer to help employers reduce risk behind the wheel.

During the conference, NETS Annual Benchmark report results will also be reviewed. As many of you know, the Benchmark process brings together socially responsible companies willing to look at their own crash metrics, compare findings and share what they’ve learned. Benchmarking will show how your company compares in terms of crash, injury and fatality frequencies, taking into consideration road safety policies, driver training programs, crash review practices, the “greening” of fleets, and more so don’t miss this session at the conference!

As we count down the days to our Annual Conference, I am also pleased to highlight how NETS recently concluded our second ever Latin America (LATAM) Regional Road Safety Conference September 21-22. The event was a tremendous success and yet another notable milestone for NETS as it highlights our continued commitment to growing our global road safety mission for members and non-members alike. As many of you know, NETS membership consists of numerous multi-national organizations who are tasked with a multitude of challenges outside the U.S. During our upcoming annual conference, we will briefly reflect upon the LATAM event and highlight key next steps and international plans going forward.

If you have not yet registered for the annual conference, I urge you to do so as this represents another great opportunity to learn best practices and gain valuable “real world” improvement strategies at the only conference focused exclusively on employer road safety.

And on a final note, NETS Sector meetings will be held again this year – for the third year in a row – the week after the annual conference to give members and sponsors an even deeper review of road safety issues and challenges within their respective industry sector. Road safety leaders from Agriculture, Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV), Insurance and Utility organizations are expected to come together the week of October 25th for these value-added meetings. As further details are finalized, meeting times and dates will be communicated to all.

Thanks once again for your time and commitment to road safety and hope to see many of you during our upcoming conference.

Stay safe!
