The National Energy and Utility Affordability Coalition (
NEUAC) is seeking local, state, and national co-signers for their letter seeking support for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
This letter is designed for community based organizations, Community Action Agencies, State Associations, and others to sign onto to support the vital role LIHEAP plays in the lives of struggling families. There is no specific funding amount requested and it is focused on reminding elected officials of the value and impact of this important program.
The Community Action Partnership has signed onto the letter that closes with this statement,
"We understand that Congress must make difficult budget decisions, but reducing LIHEAP funding is not the answer. NEUAC and its national coalition of more than 160 member organizations, along with the hundreds of stakeholders that have signed this letter to support LIHEAP, strongly urge you to protect LIHEAP funding in FY20. Adequate resources are vitally important to make energy affordable and help maintain safe indoor air temperatures for America's seniors, elderly, and families with limited incomes."
