  • Discover discrete trial training and behavioral momentum intervention,

  • Have the opportunity to ask questions and receive feedback.

Dr. Jan Schaefer is the founder of Collaborative Autism Resources and Education (CARE) and is a board-certified behavior analyst, doctoral (BCBA-D). She and her team provide consultative services to school systems, state agencies, and organizations across the U.S.

Using Music and Applied Behavior Analysis to Promote Skill Acquisition

Music-mediated intervention (MMI) has recently been identified as an evidence-based practice for students with autism. Participants will


  • Learn how music affects the brain,
  • Explore how music promotes learning and skill acquisition, and
  • Use songs and musical activities to teach specific skills.

Dr. Marlene Sotelo is the executive director of Els for Autism Foundation. She has been working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder for more than 25 years. Prior to joining the foundation, Dr. Sotelo worked for the University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities.
