Tribute to Albert Schweitzer - Dr. William McNabb

Albert Schweitzer is known throughout the world as a great humanitarian. DR. WILLIAM MCNABB has surrounded himself with Schweitzer's belief that true happiness is connected to service. Short film by Michael Barber.

Piedmont Church Services Now Available On Your Television Via YouTube

For months, you have participated in worship by watching on your computer and mobile devices. While this works extremely well, we thought it would be nice to offer a way for you to watch with your entire family on your big screen TV.

If your TV has the YouTube app built in, or you are using ROKU, Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV, navigate to the YouTube app and search for 'PIEDMONT COMMUNITY CHURCH.' There, you will see our channel with our most recent worship services available to view.

Be sure to subscribe so you won’t miss our services and special content.

See you on the BIG SCREEN!

What happens when DR. STEPHEN MAIN enters an empty Sanctuary and pulls out all the stops? Find out by watching this fun, short film by Michael Barber.

REV. SCOTT KAIL suggests we stop paying so much attention to ourselves and turn our attention to those around us who deserve to be recognized.

The shelter-in-place order resulting from COVID-19 has been difficult for us all. Though we have been worshipping exclusively online since March 15, the question as to when the church will reopen, and just what that will look like, is on everyone’s mind.

A Task Force has been formed to plan for our eventual reopening in a safe and timely manner. We will follow the guidelines established by the CDC, the State of California and the County of Alameda. The Task Force is led by Dr. Don Ashburn along with (church member/epidemiologist) Dr. Joan Chow: Steve Senter and Randy Litteneker (Board of Trustees), Kristin Johnson and James Ramos (Board of Deacons), Leslie Quantz, Nick Baz, Jay Foreman and Toni Fischer (Staff).

As you know, we are in an uncharted and rapidly changing environment. Stay tuned for updates from the Task Force, which will be shared in  The Messenger  and on our various online platforms.

And, know that the good people you entrust with your spiritual journey are also committed to your personal safety.

WHAT A SERVICE we have for you this week! Dr. Stephen Main fills an empty Sanctuary with a blast of improvisational sound, Suzanne Latham returns to lead worship, Mitch Polzak leads us in a hymn and Dr. William McNabb wraps up his sermon series on the Book of James.

Piedmont Church member ANN LIN had an idea to sew face masks for frontline workers and their patients. Reaching out to those who sew for the Mexico Mission Trip, Ann soon found herself leading the ‘Mask Brigade’, sewing 1,700 masks and counting.  Video by Michael Barber

There are many ways to stay engaged in the life of Piedmont Community Church during these challenging times. DR. DON ASHBURN invites you to stay connected online, by email or phone and through various gatherings held on the Zoom platform.

Join Dr. Don Ashburn for a study of the New
Testament Gospel of Mark. We’ll meet weekly online from 10 - 11 am. We’ll be using the Zoom online platform.

In the study, we’ll read the text out loud and then discuss its meaning, its original context as well as how it relates to our lives today.

To participate, you’ll need access to a computer or mobile device with audio and visual capabilities. You can have your own copy of the Bible, or read the text as it’s shared onscreen. There’s no homework, and no expectation that you’ve studied the Bible before.

Just join us, and invite your friends! Contact Dr. Ashburn at Don@PiedmontChurch.org . The link for joining the Bible Study online is:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82910582013 . It’ll be the same link each week.
The church office is open weekdays from
10 AM to 12 Noon, and Jean Leahy is available
to receive your phone calls in person.

Otherwise, voicemail is available at all times and is checked throughout the day. Call (510) 547-5700

Dear Sunday School Families,

I plan to send out lessons each Sunday, and I will send out some supplemental coloring pages/activities during the week. - Leslie Quantz

Piedmont Community Church has been partnering with Project Peace for quarterly community service days. In the past, we have served at Harbor House, Garfield Elementary School and CityTeam. However with shelter-in-place restrictions, Project Peace has redirected their efforts toward amplifying the rapidly changing needs of our community partners.

By working closely with community partners, Project Peace continues to offer family and individual service opportunities during the month of July and August.
