Each year CHC provides training and consulting to hundreds of agencies, their staff of nurses, therapists, personal care providers, and aides as well as to family and other caregivers who provide in-home services to the infirm, chronically ill and disabled
to improve care, quality and safety.
CHC received an average rating of 4.98 Stars out of a possible 5 for Learner rating of Quality and Program satisfaction across all live and online training in 2018. Also, 98 percent of CHC's Learners would recommend training sessions to a colleague!

Introduced in Senate Apr 11, 2019
Concerning home care service agencies, and, in connection therewith, requiring certain agencies to expend a minimum percentage of their reimbursements from the "Colorado Medical Assistance Act" as wages for employees who provide direct care, requiring the department of health care policy and financing to enforce training requirements and maintain public records concerning the home care workforce, and increasing the reimbursement rate for certain services provided under the "Colorado Medical Assistance Act".
VOTE IS EXPECTED THURSDAY, 4/18/2019. If passed, it
requires agencies in HCBS programs to direct a large majority of their Medicaid receipts to caregiver compensation. It also requires the state to maintain a registry of personal-care workers that caregivers and agency owners alike say is personally invasive and unnecessary.
The Home Care Association of Colorado believes this legislation will be EXTREMELY DETRIMENTAL to caregivers, clients and home-care agencies participating in the HCBS program and urges all home care agencies -- whether participating in HCBS or not -- to WRITE or CALL their senators and representatives IMMEDIATELY to please VOTE NO on this pending legislation.

Addressing a New Epidemic: Bullying Among Older Adults
Presented by:
Robin P. Bonifas, Associate Professor and Associate Director for Curriculum & Instruction, Arizona State University School of Social Work.
This presentation provides a foundation for participants to understand peer-to-peer bullying and other antagonistic behaviors among older adults and to learn about promising interventions to address such behaviors, along with opportunity to discuss specific issues occurring within their organizations.
What is Bullying?
We will review the definition of bullying, the range of incidents that commonly occur, characteristics of older individuals who bully their peers, characteristics of older individuals who are the targets of peer bullying, and the impact bullying has on older adults.
Ways to Prevent Bullying?
Primary emphasis is given to a multi-level intervention framework for addressing buying in senior housing and senior service setting and easy-to-implement interventions that providers have found useful in minimizing such behaviors.
What Are Your Challenges?
Participants will have an opportunity to discuss specific difficulties they are having in their own organizations and receive feedback from the presenter and from one another.
