Since 1977, Brent Nosworthy has been working on an massive project, a part of which appeared in 1990 as the critically-acclaimed The Anatomy of Victory: 1689-1763 and several subsequent books.
This will be a very detailed multi-volume series that analyzes the development of tactics from the advent of the arquebuse until the abandonment of the rifle musket at the end of the American Civil War.
