INTRODUCING THE ALL NEW 3 DAY MASTER TECH SCHOOL

Presented by the Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA)

Wednesday May 27, Thursday May 28, Friday May 29 2026

Presented by: Mark Daus, Roman Troyer, Matt Faupel & Merlin Theurer

Commercial property managers and Homeowners no longer accept minimum standards when it comes to installation and maintenance of commercial door systems. In today’s business world, professionals are in demand at every level. The door and access systems industry has responded to these changing times by creating a series of professional certification programs for technicians.

The IDEA Faculty has put together a new 3 day program that will cover the (4) courses included in the Automated Access Systems Master Tech Bundle, as listed below.

The course entails 2 full days of education, with testing on the final day.

The courses covered in this school are:

RESIDENTIAL INSTALLER

IDEA Residential Installer Certification is both a training and credentialing program designed to promote professional development in the door and access systems industry. Individuals are eligible to apply for this certification program at any time, whether they are industry veterans or recent hires. When used as a training resource, the Residential Installer Certification course provides a roadmap for success through the delivery of quality work practices, safety and professionalism. Importantly, much of the material contained in the course is just as applicable to experienced installers, many of whom have been trained to learn the technical aspects of the job, but will find much of the content to be new and valuable.

Certification is earned by passing a comprehensive written examination based on the IDEA Residential Installer Certification Study Guide. Those who pass the written examination with a score of 70% or higher will earn the designation: Certified Residential Door Systems Technician

COMMERCIAL SECTIONAL DOOR SYSTEMS

IDEA Commercial Sectional Door Systems Technician Certification is available for qualified individuals. The designation is earned by demonstrating a high level of expertise regarding the products, accessories, installation and servicing methods associated with commercial sectional door systems. Commercial Sectional Door Systems Technician Certification is met by successfully completing a written examination based on a comprehensive Study Guide developed by the IDEA Board of Directors. In addition to serving as an examination textbook, the Study Guide will also expand the scope of expertise among even the most experienced technicians.

COMMERCIAL ROLLING DOOR SYSTEMS

IDEA Commercial Rolling Door Systems Technician Certification is available for qualified individuals. The designation is earned by demonstrating a high level of expertise regarding the products, accessories, installation and servicing methods associated with commercial rolling door systems.

Commercial Rolling Door Systems Technician Certification is met by successfully completing a written examination based on a comprehensive study guide developed by the IDEA Board of Directors. In addition to serving as an examination textbook, the study guide will also expand the scope of expertise among even the most experienced technicians.

ROLLING STEEL FIRE DOORS

Rolling fire doors represent an essential role in property protection and life safety. NFPA 80 terminology is changing, and recognizing the installation and service of rolling steel fire doors is a job for professionals with special expertise in this discipline. IDEA established this program to assist commercial property consumers in identifying qualified technicians for the installation, service and drop testing of rolling steel fire doors. This course emphasizes personal safety and the NFPA-80 Standard.

These 4 programs are included with the Automated Access Systems Master Technician Bundle. For those not interested in all four programs, IDEA also offers two additional bundles for Residential and Commercial Sectional Doors or Commercial Rolling and Rolling Steel Fire Doors.
