After a successful four year delay, unfortunately, on September 15 the Board of Supervisors opted to pass a one percent Art Fee on all private development. According to the ordinance, the total value of the public art allocation is based on one percent of the building valuation of eligible projects. There is also an in-lieu fee option. On September 15, the County of Los Angeles introduced the "Protecting Communities Near Oil and Gas Drilling Operations in Los Angeles County" ordinance. Our primary concern is related to the negative impacts to housing development and the potential loss of housing production opportunities. Any strategies that include the imposition of minimum setbacks and duplicative or conflicting compliance standards is the wrong approach.
