Last year, the City of Ventura passed an Emergency Streamlining Ordinance, supported by BIA members. This month, BIA-LAV testified in support of extending the Ordinance which was passed by the majority of the Council. The Ordinance will increase expediency in the development review process, fast track permitting and reduce building hurdles .

In 2020, BIASC and our Chapters lead the charge against the adoption of Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT). Now that there has been substantial work done showing the increases in costs, we are again calling on the Governor to revisit VMT. BIASC and our partners across the state are working to end this unparalleled threat to housing.

In association with the California Housing Foundation (CHF), the California Building Industry Association's President & CEO, Dan Dunmoyer participated in a recent USC Lusk Center for Real Estate Webinar on housing. The Webinar focused on survey evidence from Developers, Planning Commissioners, and Housing Advocates on the building process, particularly in Los Angeles County. Additionally, BIA Member, Bert Selva, President & CEO of Shea Homes, commented on the survey and study findings.
