Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (WIM)
Progress of the implementation of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage

November 4, 14:15—15:30 CET
(13:1514:30 UTC)

The WIM is the main vehicle under the UNFCCC to avert, minimize and address loss and damage associated with climate change impacts, including extreme events and slow onset events, in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to climate change.

This year, its Executive Committee (ExCom) launched three new expert groups to enhance cooperation and facilitation in relation to non-economic losses, slow onset events, and action and support relevant to loss and damage. With the two existing expert groups (the Task Force on Displacement- TFD and the Technical Expert Group on Comprehensive Risk Management-TEG-CRM), the ExCom now has arrangements for technical support in all its five strategic workstreams.

This event will showcase the wide range of technical products available for Parties, and opportunities for the broad range of stakeholders to contribute to thematic activities to assist actions in averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage.
