Weingut Proidl
Kremstal - Senftenberg
The Proidl Winery was established in the region in 1650. The winery founders were originally from the Brennen region in Germany (Mosel Valley). Since 1738, Proidl produced wines in Senftenberg village.
Ninth and tenth generation family members Franz and Patrick Proidl are still cultivating the vines and making wine at the same 74-acre Senftenberg location. Currently they grow mainly Gruner Veltliner and Riesling, but also a very limited amount of Muskateller, Traminer and Chardonnay.
Annually, the winery produces 12,000 cases.

Kremstal
The vineyards in the Kremstal are divided into three distinct areas: the historic city of Krems, whose western “Stein” district borders directly with the Wachau, the Krems valley, with its thick loess nappes to the east, and finally, the small wine villages south of the Danube clustered around the imposing Göttweig Abbey. Since 2007, the Kremstal DAC designation has been synonymous with spicy Grüner Veltliner wines and elegant, mineral-driven Rieslings, which are not only produced in a fresh, classic-to-middleweight style, but also as dense Reserve wines.
CULINARY TIP
The highly nuanced structure of the Kremstal DAC wines facilitates perfect combinations with a wide variety of dishes, from classic roast pork to spring rolls, where Grüner Veltliner in the Reserve category plays its role perfectly as a brilliant universalist. Kremstal Rieslings, on the other hand, are in their ideal element as companions to traditional fish dishes, as well as to flights of finned culinary fancy.

The 2023 vintage certainly put Austrian winemakers through their paces. Dry spells, challenging damp periods and, in some places, severe storms meant that a lot of painstaking work was required in the country’s vineyards. However, all the hard work was rewarded with a glorious autumn. Expressive, dense and well-balanced white wines can be expected, as well as the next brilliant red-wine vintage. Furthermore, winemakers were once again able to produce significant volumes of Eiswein.

Grüner Veltliner
2023 Kremstal DAC Rameln
This wine showcases a bright yellow green color with silver reflections. Fine tobacco savouriness, a bit of blossom honey, a hint of guava and pear touch, and tangerine zest are in the echo. Juicy, powerful, a bit tobacco, a touch of tropical fruits on the finish, mineral and salty in the aftertaste.
This is a good food wine.

Grüner Veltliner
2023 Ried Hausberg
Kremstal DAC
Visually, the wine presents a medium yellow-green color with silver reflections.
On the nose, ripe tropical fruits can be detected with a bit of candied clementines, some apricot, dark minerality, and inviting bouquet.
On the palate, a juicy, elegant, fine acidity, with notes of mineral and salt, and a touch of yellow apples which lingers long and versatile.

Riesling Alte Reben
2022 Kremstal DAC
This wine has a pale yellow-green hue with silver glints. Fine herbal savouriness on the nose, with white peach and mineral nuances, followed by hints of lime, but still rather restrained. On the palate, complex, taut, green apple, with fresh acidity,
citrus-mineral reverberations, and exhibiting length.
Definite ageing potential.
