New Assistant General Manager

Stephen Griswold III

We’re pleased to welcome Stephen Griswold as the new Assistant General Manager (AGM) for the Town.

Stephen brings a diverse and accomplished background in public service. He has held key roles with the United States House of Representatives, Contra Costa County, and serves in leadership positions within the United States Air Force reserves. He also has a Master of Public Administration, further strengthening his expertise in effective governance and community service.

As AGM, he will support the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, strategic initiatives, and community engagement.

Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs)

Stay Safe Around the Water: Be Aware of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs)

As temperatures rise, so does the risk of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) in our local waterways. These naturally occurring blooms can produce toxins that are dangerous to people and pets. Avoid contact with water that looks discolored, has a surface scum, or smells bad. Do not swim, wade, or allow pets to drink from affected areas.

Look for posted warning signs and report any suspicious water conditions to the California HABs Portal. Your awareness helps keep our community safe!

Water & Wastewater Rate Increases

In June, the Board of Directors approved updated rates for water and wastewater, which took effect on July 1, 2025.

These changes are based on a rate study and are necessary to support the Town’s ongoing utility needs and continue providing high-quality services to residents.

Landscape & Parks Update:

Pickleball Court Conversions &

Cornell Park Play Structure 🏓🛝

The Town of Discovery Bay, in partnership with Discovery Bay Recreation and Sports Inc. is excited to announce the upcoming conversion of two existing tennis courts into eight new pickleball courts at the Community Center. Construction is expected to begin soon—stay tuned for updates!

Also, earlier this year two brand new play structures at Cornell Park were opened for the public to enjoy!

Water & Wastewater Update:

What is Cross Connection & Backflow Prevention? 💧

The California State Water Resources Control Board requires all water providers, including the Town of Discovery Bay, to implement a cross-connection control and backflow prevention program. This program is essential to protecting our community’s drinking water from contamination and pollution.

To comply with these regulations, the Town will be introducing a new ordinance and working directly with residents to ensure that all applicable properties install the required backflow prevention devices. We are carefully exploring all options to minimize the impact on residents while maintaining compliance and upholding the highest standards for water quality and safety.
