Saturday July 12th is a super moon....and it's too good of an opportunity to miss! We have decided to take advantage of the powerful transformational and healing energy to launch our next 40 Day Global Sadhana "Healing Ancestral Karma". Ashana and I have been talking about sharing this meditation for months...and after White Tantric Yoga at Summer Solstice, we knew it was meant to be! Imagine...the final day of 3 days of White Tantric Yoga, 1500 people in the room...and the day turns out to be about clearing ancestral karma and releasing the souls of our ancestors. And guess who was sitting next to me? ASHANA!

Ashana is the perfect person to lead this meditation, and she and her husband James do so much work on just this topic. Her version of Guru Ram Das (which we have remixed to create a powerful 11 minute version to support this meditation -- take a look to the right at the digital download album "Healing Ancestral Karma" -- you'll also be able to hear the track and follow along on the instructional video that is coming soon!) is also ethereal and just gorgeous....a sweet blend of her soaring voice and karma-clearing crystal singing bowls.

This meditation is at once powerful and soothing. It will heal you inside and out, and also help to release the karma of our ancestors. Yogi Bhajan taught that we were effected by the energy of our ancestors 7 generations back and that we affected 7 generations forward. If we all take a look at our family tree, at our parents, grand parents, and multiple great grandparents (whether we know who they were or not), every one of us can find pain, suffering, and patterns that are worth clearing and releasing, both for ourselves and for the planet. Many of us share ancestors, after all...so by clearing our lines, we clear many other people's karmic burdens as well.

It's time for us all to start fresh, to change the karma of our ancestors and to forge ahead into the future as fearless, loving beings of mastery.

Meditation Instructions

Sit in easy pose. Place your right hand at your heart center on your chest, palm against the chest. Place your left hand on your back also at your heart center, palm facing outside. Chant the Guru Ram Das Mantra.

Time: 11 to 31 Minutes (We will do 11 minutes for the Global Sadhana. You can do more as you wish.)

Eyes: Close your eyes.

This is a meditation of deep healing. It is also a meditation to bless the ancestors and heal your lineage.

Translation:
Guru - teacher or guide that brings one from the darkness to the light.
Wahe - exclamation of ecstacy like "WOW!"
Ram Das - literally translates as "God's Servant",
but also refers to Guru Ram Das, the Fourth Guru of the Sikhs

This mantra was given to Yogi Bhajan by Guru Ram Das in His astral self. As Guru Ram Das, the fourth Guru of the Sikhs, was known for humility and healing abilities this mantra is also known for its healing qualities and for imparting humility to the one who chants it.

This mantra relates directly to healing and protective energy represented by Guru Ram Das. The mantra is comprised of two parts. The first part is a nirgun mantra (Guru Guru Wahe Guru). This projects the mind to the source of knowledge and ecstasy. The second part is a sirgun mantra (Guru Ram Das Guru). This means the wisdom that comes as a servant of the infinite. It is the mantra of humility. It reconnects the experience of the finite to infinity.
