President's Message

School is back in session, football season is here, and cool weather is just around the corner! The Chamber calendar is absolutely loaded with engagement opportunities for our members! I’ll highlight several events you do not want to miss.

Mark your calendar for September 15’s SC Manufacturers and Commerce’s (SCMC) Vision and Voice Tour at USC Lancaster. This is a free lunch event, but seats are limited. See details below and reserve your seat now! This is our opportunity to provide input to SCMC as they develop their 2027 legislative priorities.

Our annual Rub of the Green Golf Tournament is October 1st at the Lancaster Golf Club. While the event is sold out for golfers, we still have hole sponsorship opportunities available!

Be on the lookout for details about our always popular Fall Mix & Mingle. October 8th is the date with a new location for this year’s event.

Travel Survey

The Lancaster County Chamber’s Travel Program is a beloved annual tradition that offers community members the chance to explore exciting destinations around the world—no Chamber membership required! Each year, we partner with a trusted travel agency (Chamber Explorations) to curate a group experience to a new location. Past trips have taken us to China, Greece, Italy, Ireland, France, England, Scotland and Wales!

To help travelers prepare, the Chamber hosts informational sessions leading up to each trip’s registration deadline, and a final document briefing two weeks prior to departure ensures you’re fully ready to go.

Group sizes typically range from 25 to 45 travelers, with a wonderful mix of first-time participants and returning adventurers. Whether you come solo or with friends, the Chamber’s Travel Program is a fun, worry-free way to see the world with a great group of people.

RUB OF THE GREEN

The Golf Ball Drop is BACK!

Last year’s 50/50 Golf Ball Drop was such a hit, we’re bringing it back for another round! Last year’s lucky winner took home more than $800, and this year, the pot could be even bigger!

Here’s how it works: Purchase a golf ball (or 5!) online, and we’ll assign you your golf ball number. Then, on September 30, we’ll drop all the numbered golf balls onto the green at Lancaster Golf Club. The first ball to land in the hole wins HALF the pot!

We’ll be livestreaming the Golf Ball Drop on Facebook so you can watch the action and see who takes home the prize!

What is "Rub of the Green?"

Held annually each fall, this signature event brings together Chamber members, community leaders, and local golf enthusiasts for a day of friendly competition, relationship building, and giving back.

Rub of the Green is more than just a day on the course.

As a key fundraising initiative for the Lancaster County Chamber, proceeds from the tournament directly support the Chamber’s year-round mission to foster growth, enhance member visibility, advocate for business-friendly policy, and champion community engagement efforts across the region.

From hole sponsors and contests to networking on the fairway and the ever-popular post-play awards ceremony, Rub of the Green offers countless ways for businesses to connect with potential customers, deepen professional relationships, and showcase their brand in a fun, engaging environment.

Whether you’re providing a coupon to reach 120 local business professionals, showing your support with a hole sign, or donating a product or service for the raffle, your contribution makes a difference. Your support helps strengthen the Lancaster County business community and its continued growth and success!

For Doug Elder, a retired Great Falls High School science teacher and military veteran, a kidney transplant meant more time with family, more opportunities to do what he loves and a chance to enjoy life in ways that weren't possible before. Prior to his transplant, Doug was spending three days a week on dialysis.

“Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Four to five hours a day sitting in that cold room for four hours,” he said.

Doug's story is one of more than 400 patients whose lives have been changed through the MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center Kidney Transplant Program.

As the program continues to grow, we're committed to helping more patients access transplant care close to home and supporting them every step of the way.

Learn more about Doug's journey and this milestone in the WBTV News story!
