Gov't of NS Announces NEW Covid-19 Restrictions
Significant Impact to HRM and Designated Surrounding Areas

Tuesday, November 24th, 2020

Dear NSEF Member,

Today the Province announced further changes to Public Health Regulations related to COVID-19. These changes are applicable to the zone of Western and Central Halifax Reginal Municipality (HRM), which is defined as HRM from Hubbards to (and including) Porters Lake and the communities up to Elmsdale and Mount Uniacke/Hants County.

A map of the impacted zone can be found here.

The Province will be shutting down all sport activity in the impacted zone beginning on Thursday, November 26th for a period of two weeks, ending on Thursday, December 10th.

Additionally, people residing in the impacted zone will not be permitted to travel outside this zone to take part in any equestrian activities.

Anyone living outside the impacted zone may continue to participate in equestrian activity but cannot travel to the impacted zone to do so. Further to this, you should not leave your zone if at all necessary.

Please refer to the Government of NS Media Release for further details as it impacts riding establishments, both private and public. Boarding facilities must use caution and keep gathering numbers to 5 or less at all times while ensuring essential equine care.

"We need to flip the switch on COVID-19 right now," said Premier McNeil. "COVID-19 is moving quickly in Halifax, and we need to stop it from spreading further into Nova Scotia. We must bring COVID-19 under control before our health system is overwhelmed and it infects our most vulnerable citizens. Stopping the spread is fully up to us."

Please do your part by taking the necessary measures to ensure that you are complying with these restrictions. If you are unsure if they affect you or your facility, please review the media release in this email and err on the side of caution.

On behalf of the NSEF Board and Staff, thank you for following these restrictions for the next two weeks. Please contact our Executive Director Heather Myrer at [email protected] if you have any further concerns or questions.

Stay safe,

Valerie McDermott
