Dear Friends,

As we look ahead to Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, we are reminded that breast cancer awareness is about more than wearing pink or marking a month on the calendar. It is about understanding the many ways breast cancer can affect a person’s body, relationships, finances, and everyday life, and making sure no one has to navigate those challenges alone.

The Fall Issue of Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine addresses some of the issues that can be easy to overlook during the breast cancer journey...from living with lymphedema and inflammatory breast cancer to the financial impact of treatment. We also open conversations about sexual intimacy during and after breast cancer, the role of nutrition during treatment, and how genetic testing can help identify breast cancer risk.

This issue also highlights male breast cancer, reminding us that breast cancer does not affect women alone. Every diagnosis is different, every journey is personal, and every SurThrivor® deserves information, understanding, and support.

Here’s a look at what you’ll find in this issue:

  • How Dr. Sheri Prentiss turned her experience with lymphedema into a mission to educate and support breast cancer survivors
  • How one breast cancer survivor turned her diagnosis into a mission to advance invasive lobular breast cancer research and create lasting impact
  • What makes inflammatory breast cancer so difficult to recognize and why knowing its warning signs can make a difference
  • How Total Assist brings financial and patient support together to help ease the costs of breast cancer care
  • Why financial wellness matters after breast cancer, from managing treatment costs to making room for what matters most
  • Why intimacy can change after breast cancer and what can help you reconnect with yourself and your partner
  • What one genetic test revealed about breast cancer risk and how that knowledge helped change the future of an entire family

As we enter Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we hope these stories and resources help you feel more informed, supported, and confident in your own journey—and remind you that your questions matter, your experience matters, and you are never alone in this community.
