Welcome to our NEW BIA Baldy View Chapter newsletter layout! We will be sending out our emails monthly. Look out for us in your inboxes the first week of each month!
As we reflect on the difficulties of the last year, I want us also to consider how important our industry’s success will be to rebuilding our economy out of this pandemic. Home construction has historically led the way out of the downturns of the past and if the second half of this year proves any indication, I’m optimistic that our industry will continue to led us in a strong economy into 2021.
But with that said, our state was mired in the midst of a historic housing crisis before the pandemic. We are simply not producing enough homes, of all types – whether it’s the market demand from middle class working families seeking to purchase their first home – or low income housing stock critical to addressing our homeless crisis.
Without thoughtful input and close watch by our industry, the housing crisis will go from bad to worse as the mounting regulatory requirements continue to increase construction costs and NIMBYs continue to intimidate and kill housing projects. We will continue to see families leaving California in pursuit of a more affordable and attainable place to call home.
That’s why the work of BIA is so important. My commitment to you is to continue our laser focus on Government Affairs advocacy, which is the hallmark service and purpose of BIA.
In 2021, the Baldy View Chapter will continue our relentless pursuit of public policy reforms desperately needed to address the housing crisis. We also will need to think outside the box and find new strategies to bolster our industry advocacy and support our valuable trade partners and contractors.
The BIA remains ground zero to restore the American Dream and our economy. Thank you for your continued support of BIA and we look forward to working with you in 2021!
