Dear People of Saint Anne,
I am pleased to announce that Cardinal Cupich has appointed Father John Trout as the new pastor at Saint Anne Catholic Community in Barrington, IL, effective July 1, 2024. With a wealth of experience in pastoral ministry and a deep commitment to serving the community, Father Trout brings a renewed spirit and dedication to the faithful in their spiritual journey. His compassionate leadership and fervent devotion to the teachings of the Catholic Church promise to enrich the lives of parishioners and foster a sense of unity and faith within our community. The parish extends a warm welcome to Father Trout, and we eagerly anticipate the blessings and growth that his leadership will inspire.
Father Trout, 63, was born in Athy, County Kildare, Ireland and attended elementary school with the Sisters of Mercy and secondary school with the Christian Brothers. He was ordained in the Archdiocese of Dublin as a member of the St. Patrick’s Missionary Society for which he served for 22 years before becoming incardinated into the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2011. He earned a bachelor’s in divinity from St. Patrick College, Ireland (1989) and a master’s from Loyola University, Chicago (2001). He spent time serving in Africa (1989-2000 and 2002-2006). He served as associate pastor at Queen of All Saints Basilica (2006-2009), St. Mary, Buffalo Grove, (2009-2011) and St. Joseph, Libertyville (2011-2012). He became pastor of St. Joseph in 2012.
