November 29, 1959 - Chicago Cardinals play their last home game (the many empty seats at Soldier Field tell why). This game vs Bears was also last between the two teams as "cross-town rivals". Here, high-stepping Billy Stacy (#24) returns Bear kickoff out to the 25-yard line before #36 Merrill Douglas drops him. In on the play is lineman Ken Gray (#64) as #25 J.C. Caroline watches.

44 Minutes - Black and White |
|
A collection of episodes from the 1963 TV sports show "Magic Moments In Sports" with host Leo Durocher. 12 different 4-minute shows covering baseball from the 1930's thru 1953, mostly of the World Series during that period. Leo provides commentary - insightful because he was involved in two of them himself, but also because some of his "facts" are in error - see if you can find all three narration mistakes. Shown are the '34 and '41 All-Star Games, and all-new shots of the '38, '39, '41, '42, '43, '47, '48, '50, '51 and 1953 World Series. Fabulous interview with Bobby Thomson, Larry Jansen and Leo in the winning clubhouse just after "the shot heard 'round the world"! Also included is a look at "Stengel's Sluggers" on the powerhouse Yankee teams of the early 1950's.

57 Minutes - Black and White |
|
Both on one DVD! Narrated by Bob Fouts and presented by Falstaff, the 49'er highlight film includes an original Falstaff beer cartoon commercial with "The Old Pro" and his huge sidekick "Elwood". Y.A. Tittle, J.D. Smith, Abe Woodson, Nomellini, McElhenny, Joe Perry, Bob St. Clair, young John Brodie and many other 49'ers shown.

1 Hour - Black and White |
|
Both on one DVD! Both original films are presented by Falstaff beer with more "Old Pro" commercials. The Cardinal film is narrated by Joe Boland, while Jack Brickhouse does the commentary for the Bears. 1959 was the final year for the 2-10 Cardinals in Chicago, with two home games even scheduled to be played in Minneapolis! It was also the only year they played home games at Soldier Field (the Bears were still playing in Wrigley Field) and you'll also see the last "cross town classic" between the two clubs. The Bears, after a 1-4 start, had a great season, winning their last 7 games, beating out Lombardi's improving Packers and finishing runner-up to the World Champion Colts in the West.

FIND THE THREE ERRORS - Rare Sportsfilms Quiz!
By Doak Ewing
Our latest baseball release "Magic Moments in Baseball" with host Leo Durocher is a different and nostalgic look at many memorable moments in the history of baseball.
Old news film is shown and the former Dodger and Giant manager comments on the historic clips.
Whether a writer wrote a script for the clips or Durocher himself recalls the action from memory is unclear, however, in the 44-minute presentation there are three comments which are in error - two are fairly obvious and the other not as much.
If you choose to purchase this DVD and find the three errors in Leo's commentary, you
can win 10% off your next purchase!
To submit your findings you must call Doak Ewing at 630-527-8890, and if you are correct, he will register you as a winner.
You may use your credit immediately on any DVD, or later for a future purchase.
Any winners will be announced in our next issue along with the corrections to the three errors found.
Good Luck!
