RIDGE RENDEZVOUS
SNOWSHOE & FATBIKE EVENT

Fern Ridge Trail in St Germain will be hosting the Ridge Rendezvous on January 15th, from 1:00-4:00PM. The event be at 2005 Forest Lane, off Juve Road. Attendees can snowshoe the two loops (0.7 or 1.2 miles) and also try the new fat bike trails (approximately 2 miles). The snowshoe trails are very hilly, so be prepared for a challenging, but beautiful hike through the mature forest. The fat bike loops have a fun flow, and there is a short, less-technical loop which is perfect for beginners.

There will be a bonfire with hot chocolate and cookies. The event is free and open to all ages. Donations are welcome and go to support trail building and maintenance at Fern Ridge. Don’t have your own snowshoes or fat bikes? We will have some available to borrow.

Though Fern Ridge Trail has been in existence for over 40 years, it wasn’t well known until recently. The property containing the trail was purchased by the Town of St Germain in 2017. Since the purchase, volunteers have been working on a trail reroute and additional trail construction, including the addition of a bog boardwalk and a new 0.6 mile connector loop to the new parking area. A DNR Stewardship grant was awarded in 2021, which helped to fund construction of the mountain bike trails on the property. The remaining mountain bike trails will be completed in the spring on 2022.

The Ridge Rendezvous is sponsored by the St Germain Town Board Non-Motorized Trail Committee, which is hoping to bring more attention to this superb trail system through this and future events. For more information, please contact Anne at 715-614-3711 or visit the Fern Ridge Trail Facebook page.
