Ask your Congressperson to Support H.R. 1267, the Water Systems PFAS Liability Protection Act!

As a water utility striving to provide a safe, affordable public service to our ratepayers, there is a concern that EPA’s designation of PFOA and PFOS as hazardous substances under CERCLA will cause water systems and ratepayers – rather than polluters – to incur environmental cleanup liability that should be faced by the entities responsible for that pollution.

H.R. 1267 would provide statutory protection for water systems from liability under CERCLA for PFAS to help ensure polluters, not the public, pay for PFAS cleanup.

  • Apply or nominate an individual for WEF's David Jenkins Operator Award and Scholarship by April 13. This $10,000 award is presented annually to one individual Operator in a water resource recovery facility who is pursuing or plans to pursue further education and/or training for certifications and/or academic degrees that will enhance their career in the water sector.

  • WEF is conducting a national Operations & Maintenance Benchmarking Survey focused on wastewater collection systems. This survey aims to understand current operations and maintenance (O&M) practices, particularly cleaning activities, across diverse systems in terms of size, ownership (public and private), location, and other relevant factors.
  • WEF is looking for feedback from wastewater facility employees as part of their Disinfection Practices Survey. Share your facility’s current disinfection practices; contribute to a survey that has captured industry trends since 1979; and gain insights into how operations are changing in North America and beyond.
