With the start of July, we are now more than halfway into 2021 and beginning to plan for our 2022 events. As we enter the second half of the year, we are discussing and planning for our largest yearly event, the Annual Conference & Exhibit.
We plan to host our 2022 Annual Conference in person, with virtual options. Our committees are currently hard at work reviewing abstracts and building sessions for the technical program, and the Meeting Management Council is having important discussions about precautions and protocols to preserve event participants' health and safety.
In the meantime, we have a variety of events to look forward to this summer, including the Ops Challenge Training Day, the Committee Member Appreciation Event, and the WEN Summer Co-Ed Event. These events will all be taking place in-person in August.
In addition to these events, we will be hosting the CSO/Wet Weather Issues Conference and the Northeast Residuals and Biosolids Conference this fall. Both events will be taking place in a hybrid in-person/virtual format. The Residuals and Biosolids Conference is currently accepting abstracts, and more information about the CSO Conference, including the program and registration, will be released soon. We hope to see some new and familiar faces at these upcoming events.
Check out the rest of the newsletter for more on committee news and details on upcoming events. Until next newsletter, we hope everyone has a great month and stays healthy.
As always, we invite you to contact Jordan Gosselin at jgosselin@newea.org with committee news and updates you would like to share in future editions.

Updates from the Innovation Council
|
|
NEWEA's Innovation Council continues its focus on their charge to build connections between utilities, regulators, academia and innovators to facilitate experimentation and adoption of new technologies, methods and policies that will improve the industry. As part of this charge, the Council is identifying opportunities to access resources and get assistance from other organizations working to advance water innovation.
Specifically, the Southeast New England Program (SNEP) Network and the Water Research Foundation have valuable opportunities for New England water innovators. SNEP is currently accepting applications for the Call for Participants Round II Projects. The Call for Participants is specifically focused on community-scale and/or watershed-scale planning opportunities for communities to build local capacity and move towards more sustainable financing and long-term climate resilience through enhanced stormwater management and ecological restoration efforts. The deadline to apply is July 21st, 2021 at 5:00pm. Submit an application online.
Additionally, The Water Research Foundation’s Innovation Program is moving important technologies into the field where they can deliver meaningful and timely results. This program provides tools to help you at each stage of the innovation cycle via a variety of resources. This includes their Tech Trend tool that identifies trends around the deployment of innovative technologies across the water sector; the Scholarship Exchange Experience for Innovation & Technology Program (SEE IT) that provides utilities first-hand exposure to water innovation in use around the world; and monthly webcasts featuring technology providers, researchers, and participating utilities.
Contact the Innovation Council Director Marianne Langridge to learn more and get access to these resources.
