Diving Into Public Notification of CSO Activation, Part 2
March 3, 2021
|
|
After months of planning and preparation, our 2021 Annual Conference wrapped up last month. We hosted the conference on four days spread out over the course of two weeks. Our first-ever virtual Annual Conference featured 16 technical sessions, four keynote speakers, two discussion forums, and more.
Registered attendees can log back into our virtual event platform to watch recordings of all sessions, keynotes, and forums. Additionally, our keynotes and forums are available for public viewing on NEWEA's YouTube channel.
The Young Professionals Summit was also hosted in February. The three sessions, which took place once per week for three successive weeks, addressed environmental justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the water industry.
In the coming weeks and months, we will be hosting another CSO webinar and the Student Design Competition, which is enrolling teams now, and the Spring Meeting is currently scheduled to take place in June. A full statement can be found below about planning for the Spring Meeting's format.
Check out the rest of the newsletter for more on committee news and details on upcoming events. Until next newsletter, we hope everyone has a great month and stays healthy.
As always, we invite you to contact Jordan Gosselin at jgosselin@newea.org with committee news and updates you would like to share in future editions.

Spring Meeting 2021 Announcement
|
|
NEWEA’s Spring Meeting, scheduled to take place in June 2021 at the Mount Washington Resort, is currently undergoing consideration about the event’s format. Many variables persist that make this planning challenging, including ongoing vaccine rollout, emerging highly contagious variants of COVID-19, and local, state, and federal restrictions on traveling and in-person gatherings.
As we did with the 2021 Annual Conference & Exhibit, which was ultimately held in an entirely virtual format, NEWEA’s Staff and Meeting Management Council are exploring three different options for our 2021 Spring Meeting:
- A fully virtual event
- A hybrid virtual/in-person event
- A fully in-person event
We will be following reports of cases, the status of vaccine rollout, and regulations from public health organizations and state and federal government in the coming months to guide our planning. We will keep our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors updated on our plans for the 2021 Spring Meeting as more information becomes available.

Congratulations to our 2020-21 Slate of Awardees
|
|
NEWEA is pleased to announce the 2020-21 NEWEA/WEF Award Recipients. Congratulations to all!
Typically, award recipients would be honored at the Awards Ceremony & Luncheon, which takes place during the last day of the Annual Conference & Exhibit, but the 2021 Annual Conference was held entirely virtually.
In lieu of a virtual awards ceremony, NEWEA will be sharing a several months-long digital promotional campaign. Each of the award recipients will be highlighted on NEWEA's social channels and website. NEWEA has also created an awards promotional plan featuring downloadable templates and content that can be customized and shared in support of awardees.

Submit Your Idea to the 2020 Stormy Awards
|
|
The New England Stormwater Collaborative continues its efforts to identify the best stormwater work in New England. The award program identifies simple, imaginative, unique, and inventive stormwater ideas in three categories:
- Stormwater Management/Green Infrastructure
- Political Support/Funding/Outreach
- Program Efficiency/Technology Support
Tell us how your community or business is improving our region's ability to deliver stormwater management services in one of these three categories and you could win a Stormy Award!
- The best ideas submitted will be featured on the collaborative’s webpage and in our organizations' publications.
- The top three ideas will be featured in a special awards session at a NEWWA, NEWEA, or NEAPWA conference (rotates each year).
- The top three idea winners will receive complimentary registration to the conference.
Ideas will be judged based on ingenuity, transferability, and how effectively the idea has helped manage stormwater, increase support, or leverage a unique technology.
Submission deadline is March 1, 2021.
