NEWEA invites the submission of abstracts for the 2025 Spring Meeting!
This annual meeting consistently attracts more than 300 engineers, consultants, scientists, operators, and students, and features a variety of technical sessions, exhibitor displays, and the Operations Challenge competition. It provides an opportunity for professional exchange of information and state-of-the-art concepts in wastewater treatment and water environment issues.
Please consider submitting an abstract on water quality topics such as:
- Biosolids
- Infrastructure Funding
- One Water/Strategic Planning
- Operators’ Perspectives
- PFAS
- Resiliency
- Stormwater/Flood Detection
- Workforce Development

Enrollment for the Young Professionals Committee's Mentoring Program is now open!
This program was created with the goal of forming a working relationship between those in the beginning of their water industry careers and seasoned professionals.
The program will involve a commitment from mentors and mentees from January 2025 until January 2026. During that time, it is requested that mentors and mentees have an in-person or phone meeting at least once every three months. A new class of mentees will be enrolled at the start of each cycle, but mentees and mentors are encouraged to maintain contact beyond completion of the program at the 2026 Annual Conference.
Submit an application by December 13, 2024 to be considered for this cycle of the program.

The Water Leadership Institute program educates, trains, and provides opportunities that enable developing and emerging leaders to build strong, lasting relationships within the water sector. Participants engage in management training and leadership development through a blended learning approach that includes the examination of complex challenges facing the water and wastewater sectors and networking with public and private sector practitioners.

Connecticut: CTWEA's Operations Forum, formerly the Mangers Forum, will be held on February 14, 2025 in Plantsville, CT. The meeting agenda and registration information will be posted to CTWEA.org soon.
Maine: MEWEA's 2025 Clean Water Week Poster Contest is now accepting submissions. Any Maine student grades 1-12 can submit for the chance to win by March 21, 2025.
Massachusetts: Save the date for MAWEA's next Quarterly Meeting on December 4. This event will be taking place virtually. More information will be posted to MAWEA.org soon.
New Hampshire: The 2024 NHWPCA Winter Meeting, taking place on December 6, includes a tour of Merrimack's recently completed upgrades to their WWTF, presentations, a lunch buffet, and a holiday raffle.
Rhode Island: RICWA's 2024 Holiday Party is happening on December 6.
Vermont: The 2024 GMWEA Fall Tradeshow, taking place this Thursday, November 7 in South Burlington, VT, will feature sessions, over 90 exhibitors, and lunch.

NEWEA's sixth annual Online Holiday Auction is now open for bidding!
This auction, which will be live for the entire month of November, features a variety of gift cards and passes to hotels, restaurants, and entertainment around New England. This auction aims to raise funds for continued and expanded programming to support New England water professionals and protect our region's water environment.
Bids will be recorded throughout November, and winning bids will be determined when the auction closes at 11:59 pm on November 30. Each item will be sold to the highest bidder, and winning bidders will receive their purchased item(s) via mail or email during the month of December.
