Unless Something Goes Terribly Wrong, a documentary filmed at Portland Water District's East End Wastewater Treatment Facility, premiered at the Camden International Film Festival on September 13.

The Mattabassett District recently published a video, featuring NEWEA Treasurer and Mattabassett District Executive Director Art Simonian, explaining the process that occurs after water goes down the drain.
This video is a great resource to promote awareness and understanding about the work performed by water professionals each and every day to treat the water we use, protect public health, and safeguard our environment and water resources.

| | Grant Application Now Open: Hach Water Quality Equipment Grant for High School Students | | |
Applications are now open for WEF's Hach Water Quality Equipment Grant, designed to support high school students in developing research projects for the USA Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition.
This grant provides access to high-quality water testing equipment, empowering students to explore real-world environmental challenges through hands-on science. Last year, 20 students received equipment, and several went on to win state SJWP competitions — including the national winner!
The application takes just 15–20 minutes to complete and must be submitted by October 24, 2025. Awardees will be notified by November 7, and equipment will be shipped directly to schools.
