American Red Cross Opens Shelter in Response to Natural Gas Delivery Situation

(KINGSTON, NY, January 20, 2011) - The American Red Cross of Ulster County is opening an overnight shelter in response to a natural gas delivery complication affecting hundreds of homes in the City of Kingston.

Mass Care and Shelter Volunteers will operate a shelter located at the
 

Midtown Neighborhood Center, located on the corner of Hoffman Street and Broadway in Kingstonfor the duration of the situation:
 

The Red Cross will provide food, beverages and a safe place to sleep for those who leave their homes. Residents coming to the shelter should bring:

         Bedding for each member of the family (although the Red Cross has some bedding available, we are asking people coming to the shelter to bring their own bedding to ensure we can give comfort to as many people as possible)

         Diapers and formula for children

         Prescription medicines

         Toiletries

         Food for special dietary needs

 
 

*Please note that the only animals permitted in Red Cross shelters are service animals; for safety and health reasons, we can not accommodate pets.
