CLC INFORMATION BULLETIN

FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Dearest Members of CLC Community,

This is not a Newsletter but rather a ‘Bulletin’ with some important information and requests.

The Jesuits have asked that we circulate the notice below about a series of talks that will be presented in Montreal on March 19, 2020. The topic has to do with Jesuit/Indigenous relations, a topic very relevant to us in CLC. I know it is not likely that many of us will attend but if you know of anyone who might be in the area, please pass the word along! Apparently Salt and Light will be there to film some of the presentation as well.

CLC Spain, on behalf of CVX Europe, has developed a Lent Calendar for Youth. Catherine Kelly who most of you met at the National Assembly has translated it into English. It is available on our CLC Facebook page which can be accessed on our National CLC Canada Website (christianlifecommunity.ca).

Last, but not least, on behalf of CLC we stand in prayerful compassion and solidarity with L’Arche communities throughout the World, but, especially here in Canada where so many of our CLC members have close connections with Jean Vanier and L’Arche. It is a challenging reminder that we are all human and subject to temptation and sin. In this season of Lent, may we each reflect carefully on our own humanity, in all its goodness and challenges, as part of our prayer for those who are grieving this difficult news.

May our loving Creator continue to bless and strengthen L’Arche Communities throughout the World and the people who work in this very important mission field.

Jesuits and First Nations: Towards a Spirituality of Reconciliation

Decolonizing the Jesuits: transformations on the way towards reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
"The truth will make you free but first it will make you miserable."

Fr. Peter Bisson, SJ, former provincial superior of the Jesuits in English Canada and a long time advocate for justice and reconciliation committed to indigenous peoples will share some stories. A time for quiet reflection afterwards will give the participants space to notice how they are moved and prepare them for spiritual conversation at the end of the evening.
Each Discover Soirée is a free mini-retreat that begins at 7 pm and ends no later than 9:30 pm. Your donations to support our mission are welcome!

For $20, you can join Peter Bisson and other participants for supper at 5:30 pm. Register for the dinner at 514-684-2311 ext. 0.
