PAY IT FORWARD HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVE

Please read below an email sent from the principal of Runyan Elementary School.  Way to go Evans, McKinney, and Mrs. Gilbert for pulling this off!!!

Just wanted to tell y'all how grateful we are for all the fantastic gifts!  It was so much more than we were expecting!  I wish you could have been here to see how excited the students were.  I truly cannot remember a time when the whole school was so joyous -- kids walking into that room with stacks and stacks of individually wrapped presents of all different shapes and sizes!  They were beside themselves!  I know it took a lot of work and money to make this happen, but please know you made Christmas for a lot of kids.  We took a lot of pictures, and I'll share them as soon as I can get them uploaded, but I couldn't wait to tell you how happy you made our students!

Thanks for putting forth so much effort on behalf of others.  Merry Christmas!

Tracy

PROJECT GRADUATION NEEDS YOU!!!

Attention parents of Elementary and Middle School Students . . .

McKinney's Project Graduation is back . . .and we need YOU ! ! !

Why are we asking for your help when you don't have high school students?   Because in 2017 Project Graduation didn't take place due to a lack of community support. And we want to make sure that never happens again! We need to keep Project Graduation going strong so it's there when your students are seniors. Why? Because Project Graduation keeps graduating seniors (and the community) safe by providing a lock-in style event with fun activities, entertainment, food and prizes (including a FREE CAR!).   It is supported and run ENTIRELY by volunteers, parent groups, booster clubs, and local businesses.
You have the potential to save lives - please consider supporting this worthwhile event. What can you do to help? It's simple...we need sponsors, prize donations and volunteers.
If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact Nancy Nori at (716) 517-5090 or nantz899@yahoo.com
Visit our website at http://www.mckinneys-project-graduation.com/  and click on the buttons to donate or volunteer.
Thank you in advance for your support!!
      EVANS PTO
Evans/PTO Spelling Bee
Our Evans kiddos showed up and showed off their spelling skills at the Evans/PTO Spelling Bee last week. Thank you to Ms. Gilbert, the school sponsor, and to Ms. Palya, our PTO Programs Chair, for their hard work.
We're proud of ALL our students, but here are the final winners:
1st: Zach Monsalve
2nd: Hassan Khan

3rd: Jose Fierro
Zach will represent Evans Middle School at the District Bee on January 16th at 6pm at McKinney Boyd High School. If you'd like to cheer Zach on, visitors are welcome to watch the Spelling Bee, and I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.

NURSES NOTATIONS

6th GRADE - Shots need updated to attend 7th grade 2018/19 school year!!
6th grade students, it is time to turn in your proof of immunization requirements! Texas State Law requires that 7th grade students for the 2018-2019 school year show proof of the following immunizations:
Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap) within the past 5 years
                Meningococcal vaccine (one dose)
(On top of the immunizations that were required for elementary)
Your child may have already had these immunizations. Please provide the school nurse with a current list of your student's immunizations. Please make sure that your student receives any needed immunizations before the end of this school year.
It is necessary for your child to be in compliance before they can get their schedule for 7th grade and attend school in the fall.. Winter break makes a great time to get these shots!!
Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.

IMPORTANT PARENT INFORMATION

Dear Parents,

Although some of he following information is not new, we would like to remind you of a few policies we have in place here at Evans Middle School.  We can't thank you enough for your cooperation!

*For the safety and security of all MISD students and staff, everyone is required to show government issued ID (driver's license, identification card, passport etc.) upon entering the campus or accessing student information.

*In the event your student forgets an item at home, you are welcome to leave it on the cabinet in the front office. Please make sure it is clearly and visibly marked with your student's name. We cannot be responsible for anything left on the cabinet and all food items will be thrown out at 3:45pm. In an effort to keep our classrooms as free from disruption as possible, we will not make phone calls or deliveries to students for items left for pick up.

*We are happy to have your student come to the front office to be checked out once you are in the building, but we do not call students in advance. This will keep our students in the classroom as much as possible. If your student is in a fine arts class, lunch or a PE/Athletics class, please allow for additional time when picking them up. Please be sure that the person picking up your student is on your contact list. We will need to see your driver's license every time you enter campus. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

*We will not be able to call a classroom for dismissal after 3:15pm in order to minimize disruption at the end of the school day. If you must pick your student up at the end of the day, please arrive in plenty of time to meet this deadline. We appreciate your understanding.

*While you are welcome to bring lunch up to school for your child, bringing food to anyone other than your student is prohibited. This is a federally mandated directive.
