FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Freidlein Prairie Road closed for logging
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., May 23, 2019 - Freidlein Prairie Road (Forest Road 522) on the south side of the San Francisco Peaks, is temporarily closed to motorized vehicle traffic for approximately 45 days due to forest thinning operations and commercial hauling traffic.

Although the area is still accessible for bicycles, hikers and equestrians, forest officials remind visitors to be extremely cautious as large trucks and equipment will be using the road. Do not park in front of the locked gate, as logging vehicles will need to obtain continual access.

Trail access for the Fort Valley trail system can be acquired from Forest Road 164B, and the Kachina Trail has access from Arizona Snowbowl road.

Forest thinning will continue all summer long throughout the forest at different locations which may require other temporary closures. For questions regarding this temporary closure, please contact the Flagstaff Ranger District at (928) 526-0899.
