WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada, September 11, 2022 - The jackpot pools at Assiniboia Downs have attracted plenty of action this meet.
The Jackpot Hi-5, which requires the top five finishers in exact order in the last race, has been growing again and has made some people very happy this year. The pool has been won a few times and most recently on Monday September 5. A player took home $23,681 for a 20-cent base ticket after the longest shot on the board blew away the field to win.
In addition, the ASD Jackpot Pick 5, which requires the winner of the last five races, has only been distributed once this year with a mandatory payout on the August 1 Manitoba Derby program. That pool has grown quickly since and already stands at $367,123 going into Monday's program.
“There have been some close calls where we thought the Pick 5 jackpot might go,” exclaimed Darren Dunn, CEO. “This could be a life-changing payout for someone if they can be the single winner. If there isn’t a single winner, then this has the potential to be the biggest carryover we have ever had for the mandatory payout on the final day.”
There are only 7 days left in the 2022 racing season and both pools will pay out one way or another by the end of the meet.
