Robert Blakey  is the Senior Operations Manager at CBREwith the Kaiser Permanente account. He is responsible forengineering services, energy efficiency, sustainability andoperational best practices for Kaiser Permanente, a 3,100,000 - square - foot Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) operating 60 facilities throughout Washington State. He provides program management for engineering, staff development, energy efficiency upgrades, carbon footprint measurement, CAFM/IWMS technology deployment, commissioning, and operations planning for all facilities. He also provides budget and financial reporting, communications with regulatory agencies, consultants and contractors, preventative maintenance programs and service, contracting, EnergySTAR program and LEED Existing Buildings  -  Operations & Maintenance certification.
 
Robert is an IFMA accredited instructor and an adjunct professor at the University of Washington for the Facility Management Certificate program sponsored by the College of the Built Environment. The program encompasses 3 quarters over a one-year period covering 11 competency areas in Facilities Management: Communications, Quality, Technology, Operations and Maintenance, Human Factors, Finance and Business, Emergency Planning and Business Continuity, Leadership and Strategy, Real Estate and Property Management, Project Management, and Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability.

2019 BOC Course Registration Open: 
The Building Operator Certification program will be held in the following locations in 2019:

BOC Level I:
Burlington, WA begins April 14th
Seattle, WA begins September 25th
Tacoma, WA begins Fall 2019  
 
BOC Level II:
Seattle, WA begins March 12th
 
IFMA members receive a $100 discount off tuition, so be sure to select that price when registering!
 


Now is the Time for Tune-Ups!

March 1, 2019  is the deadline for completing a Tune-Up for buildings 200,000 square feet or greater. The City of Seattle strongly encourages you to plan well in advance of Building Tune-Up compliance deadlines as the building assessment, implementation of required corrective actions, and verification can take several months to complete. 
 
And keep planning ahead! April 1, 2019 is the  Alternative Compliance  deadline for buildings between 100,000-199,999 SF.
