It was so nice to ‘see’ so many faces at the PTO meeting Monday night! All of the children of those who attended the virtual event were permitted a dress down day on Tuesday. Thank you, PTO, for working hard to convert our typical yearly activities in more Covid-friendly events. I appreciate everyone’s understanding and efforts to keep our school and parish community safe.
We have been tallying the responses to the survey sent last Thursday regarding returning to school. As mentioned last week, we are determining space restrictions and people’s comfort level with decreasing the space between students in the classrooms. Some classrooms are able to accommodate additional students without reducing the space; however, some classrooms would require positioning students closer together. Whether your child is attending in person or remotely, we appreciate your filling in the survey if you have not already done so.
In the event that your child returns to school after spending the first quarter at home, there are some tips for you to prepare:
1. Please have your child wear their face mask covering their nose and mouth for long periods of time (except when eating) to simulate the in-building conditions.
2. At recess students are required to wear masks if they are not maintaining a six-foot distance. Demonstrate at home what ‘six feet’ looks like so they are able to gauge how far to stand from their peers.
3. Review the supply list. Since you are entering school for the first time, we would appreciate your sending the classroom and student supplies from the summer list.
Our safety precautions will continue as long as necessary to keep the faculty and students safe. I appreciate that you are keeping students home who may just have the ‘sniffles’. Not only would wearing a mask all day be uncomfortable for a child with a runny nose, even spreading a cold increases everyone‘s vulnerability to illness. Let us continue to pray for each other and for peace in the world!
