Manchester's Masters: The Artist's Perspective

Millyard Museum
Join us for the opening of a new exhibit featuring works by five Manchester artists: Edward L. Custer, Henry W. Herrick, Omer T. Lassonde, Lisa Anne Fletcher, and George C. Soule.
In addition to the opening of "Manchester's Masters", this event will also celebrate the opening of the updated "Woven in Time" permanent exhibit at the Millyard Museum. These updates tell the story of the redevelopment of the Millyard by Amoskeag Industries, the new businesses that came to Manchester in the 1940s and 1950s, the urban renewal projects of the 1960s and 1970s, and the revitalization of the Millyard in the 1980s and 1990s.
Also opening at the museum during this time is a small temporary exhibit featuring the works of Manchester photographer Peter Caikauskas, on exhibit in the Charles F. Whittemore Discovery Gallery.
If you are unable to join us on March 27, "Manchester's Masters" will be on display in the Millyard Museum's State Theater Gallery through June 30.

The 1st New Hampshire Light Battery Historical Association is a dedicated group of living historians dedicated to preserve the history of the original 1st New Hampshire Light Battery and the American Civil War.

- Presentation on the Original 1st NH Light Battery, their history and lives of the men who served in New Hampshire's illustrious Light Battery during the Civil War

Have fun and learn from experts at the Preservation Alliance's "don't-miss" gathering on March 24-25, 2018. Meet with vendors of period-appropriate materials and furnishings, watch craftspeople in action, learn about researching your historic house or creating a new kitchen or gardens. There will be hourly lectures and over 60 exhibitors and traditional arts demonstrators to make the two days of the Expo a rewarding experience for experienced homeowners and novices alike.
The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance strengthens communities and stimulates local economies by encouraging the protection and revival of historic buildings and places.

NH Historical Society Lecture: The Company That Built Manchester

The creation and growth of Manchester, which today is the largest city in Northern New England, is primarily the legacy of one entity: the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company. This lecture, presented by Jeffrey Barraclough, Director of Operations at the Manchester Historic Association, will look at the origins of Amoskeag, how it developed, and its lasting legacy, which has extended long past the company's closing in 1935. It will also look at the founding of the Manchester Historic Association and how it became a repository for the history of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company.
The New Hampshire Heritage Lecture series highlights the stories behind the state's many historic and cultural attractions.
This program is included in the price of admissi

The Manchester Historic Association is an independent tax-exempt charitable 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization with the mission to collect, preserve and share the history of Manchester, New Hampshire USA. The Association operates the Millyard Museum and Research Center.
The Millyard Museum is located at 200 Bedford Street in the historic Amoskeag Millyard. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Research Center is located at 129 Amherst Street in the Victory Park Historic District. The Research Center is open to the public on Saturdays 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., and Wednesdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Admission for both facilities is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors (62 and over) and for college students, $4 for children 12-18, and free for children under 12. Group rates are available. Please call (603) 622-7531 for more information, or visit the website www.manchesterhistoric.org.
