Ignatian Spiritual Life Center

Response to COVID-19
March 13, 2020

Dear Ignatian Spiritual Life Center Community,

Over the last week, I have been consulting about how to be responsible in my stewardship of the ministries of the ISLC amid COVID-19. As the situation intensifies, I take the spread of Coronavirus very seriously. Many members of our parish and Ignatian Spiritual Life Center community are vulnerable to the virus. I'm concerned by how contagious it is and how it can be within someone for weeks without presenting symptoms. A key preventative measure is “social distancing.”

Out of care for our community, I will be postponing planned events and moving as much programming as possible to video conference through Zoom, at least through the end of March, when I will re-assess the situation. This includes ongoing programming, such as: Centering Prayer; Silence of the Heart; Men’s Spirituality Group; CLCs; San Francisco Interfaith Coalition on Immigration; Thursday Faith Sharing; Friday Book Club; Ignatian Companions; Korean Storytelling; spiritual direction, and the First Spiritual Exercises.

The workshop series "Helping Wounds Heal" and the retreat, "Lazarus, Come Forth," will be postponed until further notice.

While I recognize that Zoom conference cannot replace the quality of being physically present together, the community’s health and safety is my priority. I trust that we will continue to find ways to encourage and support each other through this format.

If you are part of a group at the Ignatian Spiritual Life Center, stay tuned to your email to receive information on how each group is moving forward. Please also refer to the website for current updates or feel free to reach out directly to me at [email protected]

Prayers for health, healing and resilience in this time.

In peace,
Grace
