National Best Practices Award Goes to a
Connecticut "Team"
During the October, 2015 National conference on Traffic Records, a team from Connecticut competed with two other finalists for the National Best Practices Award for 2015 and WON! They won for their multi-year effort to develop and implement a state-of-the-art crash records system that now serves CTDOT, every police agency in CT, other state agencies, safety advocacy groups, and the safety research community. What the CT team achieved was an outstanding feat of technological and systems engineering, institutional negotiations and partnering, as well as just plain hard work and effort from a large team of contributors.

NHTSA's Don't Wreck the Holidays Campaign
Pre-Holiday Season Drunk Driving Prevention
November 28 - December 15, 2015
The holiday season is right around the corner. As we prepare for festivities with family and friends, NHTSA wants to remind all drivers that it's dangerous to drive after drinking.
You have to choose your role before drinking begins: will you drink or will you drive? Remember, even if you only have a little bit to drink and think you're "okay to drive", you could still be over the legal limit, because Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.

APWA North American Snow Conference
The New England Chapter will be hosting the 2016 American Public Works Association North American Snow Conference at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Connecticut May 22 - 25, 2016.
The conference includes a wrap-up event in the Connecticut Science Center, next door to the Convention Center.
The Planning Group is
working to set up technical tours to the State of Connecticut Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the Hartford Armory, the Town of Manchester's EOC, and the State's Quick Response Staging Center at Brainard Field.
The Chapter will soon distribute a call for sponsors to assist in hosting the event. We will need volunteers to assist in the many activities over the four days. For public agencies, we will be offering an Agency Sponsorship opportunity that will provide one-day access for staff into the exhibits, floor displays, vendors and suppliers.

- While the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) allows this installation of the sign, Connecticut Law is to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.
- The sign should not be installed within the crosswalk as it's placement may require going outside the crosswalk to get around it.
