In all seasons of the year EPAUMC’s four Camp & Retreat Centers—“God's Place Apart ~ Transforming Lives”— join with all nature as witnesses to God’s “great faithfulness, mercy, and love.” Now, as frigid winter begins to move off-stage and the more temperate seasons of spring and summer wait in the wings, our camps are also transitioning through their seasonal activities. That ranges from Pocono Plateau’s Winter Jamboree and Winter Blast this weekend, Feb. 18-20, to open houses in the spring. EPA Youth, Young Adult Ministries staying active and connected


EPAUMC’s Youth & Young Adult Ministries (YYAM) welcomes all youth pastors and leaders, as well as persons interested in starting youth ministries, to “Staying Connected,” an online meeting on Friday, Feb 25, at 6:30 PM.


Indeed, the Conference Committee on Youth Ministries (CCYM) has a full schedule of connectional events coming up, starting with a Black & Brown Youth Retreat, April 1-3, at Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center in Lebanon. It’s free for all youth and young adults who want to explore racial concerns from black and brown youth perspectives during a weekend of activities.  Learn more...

UM campus ministry offers students healthy food, fellowship during pandemic


EPAUMC’s Open Door Christian Community, a UM campus ministry at Drexel University in Philadelphia, is sponsoring Winter Wellness Wednesdays this season. They gather students weekly for free, healthy food, fellowship and conversations that offer plenty of food for thought. On Wednesday, Feb. 23, they will explore the topic “Beyond Black History” when they gather around fire pits on Race Lawn, located between Cherry and Race Streets. Learn more

  1. 2022 Eastern PA Annual Conference Resolutions instructions are available now All Annual Conference resolutions are due to the Conference Secretary, the Rev. Jacqueline Hines, by March 7. Initial resolutions will be placed on the conference website March 8 for feedback. All feedback on resolutions is due by March 24. Any revisions the authors make to their initial resolutions, in response to questions and suggestions, will be due to the Conference Secretary by April 4. Perfected resolutions will be published by April 12  to be voted on by the Annual Conference in May.  Please read the statement and instructions for submitting resolutions to AC2022 on our website: Submission Instructions.
  2. Bishops' update on BSA & Church Scouting United Methodist leaders have reached an agreement with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to extend existing UMC-sponsored Scouting charters through June 30, 2022, to provide for uninterrupted ministry with young people through Scouting. Read press release.   3. The Denman Awards nominations deadline is Feb. 28 We welcome nominations of clergy, laity and youth members who devotedly share their Christian faith and the gospel with others. See details.
  4. EPAUMC has two job openings that may provide ideal, part-time ministry opportunities to interested persons: Hispanic/Latino Ministries Coordinator and Project Restoration Construction Project Manager
  5. Two EPAUMC grants are available now with March deadlines: Dewees Grant, March 1; and Metro Ministries Building Repair Grant, March 15. Visit our Funding for Ministry webpage. 
  6. Advance Special Project applications deadline is March 4 Selected projects will be submitted to Annual Conference in May for approval. Approved projects may seek funds from EPAUMC congregations. See details
  7. EPAUMC Scholarships are available with March application deadlines  The deadline for EPA Conference Scholarships for undergraduate college students is March 1. See details. The application period for EPAUMC Education Society Grants is April 25 to May 9. See details
  8. Apply for Church & Society Ethnic Young Adult Summer Internships by March 1 The General Board of Church and Society is recruiting summer interns for summer 2022. Young persons of color, ages 18-22, interested in working for social justice, should apply now. Program dates are June 5 to July 30. Applications and information are at umcjustice.org/internships.

Seminary’s UM chapel services offer ‘Wesleyan flavor Palmer Theological Seminary, at Eastern University, serves up a “Wesleyan flavor” to its weekly United Methodist chapel services on Tuesday evenings, featuring mostly EPAUMC clergy speakers. The services happen at 6:05 PM in McInnes Hall, Room 251, and on Zoom. Learn more.

New Lenten resource explores Fathers & Daughters of the Bible.

The Rev. Steve Morton, North District Superintendent, offers all churches another Lenten study led by district clergy–this one focusing on a rarely explored topic: biblical relationships between fathers and daughters. The study is designed for small groups or classes to use either online or onsite. It starts the week of Ash Wednesday, March 2. Lenten study: Living as a Beloved Community

Christ UMC in Fairless Hills will offer an interactive six-week study for Lent, titled Living as a Beloved Community, from March 9 to April 13, each Wednesday at 7 PM, online via Zoom.
