Welcome message from Ross Lane

Director of New Services Growth

On June 15, NEXA | EAM marked a milestone celebrating our 7th Anniversary, and we are honored to continue to have the trust of our life sciences clients and the dedication of our teams in the U.S., Ireland, and Canada. Since our founding, NEXA has been committed to evolving and expanding to better serve our clients globally, especially during today's challenging climate.

In case you missed it - in January of this year, we announced the addition of our new Director of Reliability, Mike Preston; and in April, Transcat's Validation department (our parent company) transferred to NEXA, with Jonathan Revere continuing to lead as Director of Validation. Both departments continue to add new talent to their teams to ensure we deliver on our promise of providing world-class asset management solutions.

As a growing team of over 100 people strong, and now having 6 Service Tracks under our umbrella, NEXA can deliver a single source, comprehensive solution to projects tailored to our client’s needs; particularly through our NS3 | NEXA CapEx Project Model, which we are excited to introduce to you and is described in more detail below.

Also in this issue, we highlight a few features of our Reliability and Validation services and invite you to contact us to learn more about how our talented team can assist you on your next project.

Thank you for taking the time to read our latest issue; and to our U.S. clients and colleagues, have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Cheers,

Ross Lane, PMP, CRL

Introducing NS3 | NEXA's CapEx Project Model:

A One-Stop Solution

CapEx projects come with inherent uncertainties that can affect costs, schedules, and quality of work. At NEXA, we understand that challenges arise on capital projects particularly those delivered in the traditional model approach where there are numerous subcontracted vendors hired to execute the scope of work. This approach to greenfield and brownfield site turnover in the Life Sciences industry is complex and flawed.

The NEXA team can deliver a comprehensive project approach that will provide a more efficient, high quality, and cost-effective execution of CapEx Projects through our proven one-stop NS3 | NEXA Single Source Solution CapEx Project Model.

We offer our clients an end-to-end solution with our team serving as the single point of contact for project delivery. This will ensure accountability in the delivery of services to include:

  • Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation
  • Data build for the computerized maintenance and calibration system (CMMS)
  • Reliability Planning
  • Maintenance & Spares delivery
  • Execution of initial Calibrations
  • Final activities leading to the successful turn-over of the fully completed equipment and systems to the Client in an operationally-ready state.

Our team of experts in each of our 6 Service Tracks understand the critical aspects of your operations given the life-changing, life-enhancing products you deliver to the market, and we’re committed to helping you achieve your goals from project start to finish.

Creating Value | A Risk-Based Reliability-Driven Approach to Spare Parts

NEXA | EAM’s skilled team of Reliability Engineers provide critical evaluations for our life science clients’ Spare Parts programs to ensure they have the essential materials to maximize asset uptime to keep production online and on-time. As many have been experiencing due to persistent global supply chain issues, delay in shipment of spare parts, which could be as long as if not more than 28 days, leads to downtime which can be costly to your manufacturing operations. Loss of production = lost revenue.

The NEXA Reliability team can help by delivering assurance and peace of mind with the following services:

  • Perform a comprehensive review of your spare parts program that will identify missing or incorrect material information in the system of record/CMMS, and obsolescence
  • Develop a proactive stocking strategy based on current lead times of spare parts
  • Recommend and source alternatives to obsolete spare parts
  • Identify obsolete items kept in inventory
  • Design a Spare Parts program to reduce/eliminate squirrel stocking to keep costs under control

At NEXA, we know that spare parts forecasting and management improves productivity by reducing idle machine time and increasing resource utilization, and we want to ensure that our clients are equipped to avoid production disruptions throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.

Delivering Results | Validation Project Spotlight

The NEXA | EAM Validation team recently completed a thermal mapping project for a premier provider of cold chain logistic solutions for biopharma, IVF, and animal health organizations globally to support their recently expanded range of supply chain services offered to the cell and gene therapy industry.

NEXA’s team of onsite engineers and support staff provided validation services for their new site locations in New Jersey and Texas, which involved the validation of:

  • (20) -80oC Freezers
  • (4) Cryocarts
  • (14) LN2 Tanks

NEXA’s equipment testing included Installation Qualification (IQ), Operation Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).

As part of our services, we were able to offer paperless validation service through ValGenesis, the industry standard for paperless validation.

Key benefits:

  • Online portal for improved collaboration
  • Reduced review/approval cycle times
  • Digital execution for improved legibility
  • Final qualification package as a single PDF for easy record retention

Our client is now audit ready to verify that the equipment was installed, operates, and performs to the predefined specifications of its intended use. This ensures they are prepared to serve their clients' cold storage needs in the rapidly growing and maturing cell and gene therapy industry.
