2023

YEAR IN REVIEW

COMMUNITY MIXERS

Community engagement is key to everything we do at NEXTSF. In 2023 we utilized our deep community roots to assemble San Francisco leaders and neighborhood advocates and allies to celebrate our city's cherished small businesses and diverse neighborhoods.

In February we partnered with Lime to host a D3 VIP Reception at China Live in Chinatown. We brought together Chinatown business leaders and merchants and toasted our partnership with Lime and their ongoing engagement with the communities they serve. Many thanks to our friend, Charlie Mastoloni, Senior Government Relations Manager at Lime, who, as well as joining us to present this mixer, partnered with NEXTSF throughout the year for a series of online and in-person meet-ups in neighborhoods across San Francisco.

In October we joined forces with some of San Francisco's most prominent content creators to present "We Love SF!" - a fun and lively celebration, hosted by our friends at Curio. We were honored to be joined by San Francisco Mayor London Breed, who presented our Director, Vas Kiniris, with a Certificate of Recognition. Also in attendance were several dignitaries in town for the APEC Summit, along with small business community leaders.

The Phoenix Hotel in the heart of the Tenderloin was the host venue for our "Celebrate the Tenderloin" Mixer. We collaborated with our friend Rene Colorado, Executive Director of the Tenderloin Merchants Association, as he announced the "Discover Tenderloin" campaign. We were joined by SF District Attorney, Brooke Jenkins, who presented Rene with a Certificate of Recognition.

In addition, we were proud to host a celebration at Blind Butcher in the Castro to honor Chef and Owner, Coskun Abik, as well an event to celebrate the opening of Casaro Osteria on Union Street.

CONNECTIONS

Throughout 2023, NEXTSF attended a myriad of events to connect with our city and state's leaders and decision-makers. Especially important in a year in which San Francisco was host to the APEC Summit, we were honored to meet with former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, State Treasurer, Fiona Ma, State Controller, Malia Cohen, and our good friends, San Francisco Mayor London Breed and SF District Attorney Brooke Jenkins.

We would like to thank all our community partners for their continued support, including Chief Bill Scott and Assistant Chief David Lazar at SFPD, Rodney Fong, President and CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, and our partners at GGRA, GGBA, SF Travel, and Global SF.

In addition, we extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors: Lime, Square, Japan Center Garage Corp., Wells Fargo, Golden State Warriors, Alaska Airlines, Cruise, Doordash, Japantown Merchants Association, Rene Colorado, and Curio.

We look forward to you joining us online and in-person as we traverse our great city in 2024 and continue to engage and empower its diverse and cherished neighborhoods and small business communities.
