NFCA Representing the Industry
While we are not travelling, NFCA is still active making sure the voice of the fireproofing industry is heard. We’ve participated in the International Code Council’s Fire Code Action Committee Working Groups study on Occupied Roofs, Performance Based Design; requested an interpretation on the new 2021 International Building Code requirement that ALL attachments to structural building elements (including ceiling grid wire) be protected equal to the element or assembly; grew our contact lists for education about fire-resistance to key audiences such as fire marshals, building code officials and specifiers; presented many education webinars, and more. Know that your NFCA dues help us keep key audiences informed that structural fire-resistance is critical to building safety.
NFCA CAP & UL QSFRMC Partnership
NFCA’s Contractor Accreditation Program (CAP) requires that a person take and pass the NFCA SFRM and/or IFRM Fireproofing Exams. UL’s newly relaunched Qualified SFRM Contractor Program uses the NFCA SFRM Fireproofing Exam as the 1st step in the path to become Qualified. Then, an audit by UL’s staff of the SFRM Contractor’s Management System at the office and a jobsite completes the process. Need to write your Fireproofing Contractor Management System? Watch for a new Chapter in the NFCA Handbook of Accepted Fireproofing Knowledge to be published in early October.
NFCA's Handbook of Accepted Fireproofing Knowledge is here!
NFCA Contractor Members purchase now for only $195 -

The NFCA Handbook of Accepted Fireproofing Knowledge provides Fireproofing Contractors a study guide for the NFCA SFRM and IFRM Exams. Inspection Agencies can use it too. Specifiers with design firms and Code Officials also get detailed information on all key aspects of Fireproofing.

The document covers fireproofing test standards and code requirements for SFRM and IFRM, and more. Click here to learn more!
