Many NFFE DOD Locals have received the attached letter Policy and Procedures for Reduction in Force in the Civilian Workforce. Against the wishes of NFFE and other DoD unions, the NDAA directed the Secretary of Defense to establish procedures so that the order of retention in a RIF is based primarily on individual employee performance. How should NFFE locals respond to this notice? Attached is a list of negotiable topics for procedural RIF proposals.

Today, two U.S. Representatives, Barbara Comstock (R-VA) and Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), introduced the Federal Employee Paid Parental Leave Act.  If passed, the measure will provide federal employees with six weeks of leave in connection with the birth, adoption or foster placement of a child.
