Washington, D.C. – Today, NFFE National President Randy Erwin condemned President Trump for calling for a government shutdown on Tuesday, when Trump tweeted “our country needs a good shutdown in September.”

Erwin said in response:  “There is no such thing as a good shutdown."

Last week, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a report on the pay gap between federal employees and private sector workers. The CBO reports that federal employees with a professional or doctorate degree received fewer benefits and earned 24% less wages on average than private sector workers with similar levels of education.

Congress passed a short-term spending measure, or Continuing Resolution, to keep the government running through the rest of the fiscal year. See our Press Release from May 1st below.
