Corey Simon, former All-American defensive tackle and graduate of Florida State University, released the following statement announcing his campaign for State Senate District 03.

Statement from Corey Simon:

"Tallahassee has given my family and I the opportunity to succeed and thrive both on the field and off. North Florida is our home, and I want to do everything I can to give back to the community that has given so much to us. I am proud to announce my campaign for State Senate, because our community needs a voice that can deliver access to world class educational opportunities, safer neighborhoods and less government regulations on our small business owners."

About Corey Simon

Corey Simon is a former All-American defensive tackle and graduate of Florida State University. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences, the former Seminole was drafted in the first round of the 2000 draft and played eight seasons in the National Football League.

After retiring, Simon entered into the private sector as a partner and Vice President of Community Relations at the Gabor Agency. While doing so, Corey also turned his attention to the thing that meant the most to him, the community. Simon moved back to Tallahassee and started the Corey Simon Success Center which focused on mentoring the community’s most underserved population.

After operating his Success Center program for seven years at a local middle school, Simon turned his attention to a partnership with the Florida Department of Children and Families and Big Bend Community Based Care. Corey’s Kids was formed as a part of the Camps for Champions directive established by former Governor Rick Scott. The program consisted of over 100 foster kids spending 4-5 days at Florida State University where they participated in various activities that helped build confidence and foster relationships.

While leading Corey’s Kids, Simon took a leadership role in becoming the President of Big Bend Pop Warner Little Scholars, which he continues to do today. Pop Warner exists to use football, cheerleading, dance, and a respect for education to develop strong, smart, responsible, healthy young men and women.

Paid by Corey Simon, Republican, for State Senate, District 3.
