NGBS Green, which is based on the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard® (NGBS), has certified more homes than any other national green home certification program and the program is grateful for the momentum that our dedicated partners have seeded and continue to nurture.
Award determinations are based on certification volume, leadership and advocacy efforts, and nominations. We celebrate our diverse and prolific NGBS Green Partners who are designing, building, and verifying every type of housing imaginable. Our partners push the envelope of what is possible, with net zero energy and water construction, resilient construction, and special features designed to enhance resident health and well-being. Each home certified is a step toward a more sustainable future.

This fall we partnered with Professors Mark Zimpfer at Purdue University and Randy Birdwell at Texas A&M University to deliver the NGBS Green PRO as part of their fall course curriculum. The instructors presented the four learning modules and proctored each module's test during live in-person classes. At the end of the semester, all students with passing grades earn the NGBS Green PRO designation more than doubling the number of Green PROs!. Thank you, Professors! | |

Commercial-to-Residential Conversions Encouraged by HUD and the Biden-Harris Administration | HUD released updated information on how Community Development Block Grant funding of $10 billion is available to support efforts to enhance the quantity of residential units. Inclusive of this program is the encouragement of the conversion of unused or underutilized commercial properties to residential applications. Read the full article here. | |
The federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program requires each state agency that allocates tax credits, generally called a housing finance agency, to have a Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP). The QAP sets out the state's eligibility priorities and criteria for awarding federal tax credits to housing properties. | |

Office-to-Residential Conversions: Why So Complex?
As remote work continues to rise, vacant office buildings run the risk of going obsolete. The post-pandemic world has also seen a significant jump in housing prices leading to housing shortage. In this scenario, the question is clear: why not convert the empty office buildings into apartments?
