Brite Summer 2025 was an online science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics program for youth entering 7th-10th grade hosted by NGCP in partnership with Smart Girls HQ.

Thank You Citizens Bank Enterprise Technology & Security (ET&S)
On September 8th, 2025, the Citizens Enterprise Technology & Security (ET&S) team hosted a Charity Golf Scramble to benefit NGCP. In addition to the friendly competition on the golf course, the event featured various prizes for golfing, a lively silent auction, and exciting raffle prizes – all of which went to supporting NGCP. The event wasn't just about golf; it was a powerful display of community and corporate social responsibility. Approximately $70,000 was raised to support the NGCP's vital work! STEM Next’s New Math Brief: Afterschool Holds the Power to Reimagine Math Learning for the Next Generation
STEM Next recently unveiled a bold new strategy to help more young people excel in math in their latest publication, Factoring in Afterschool: A Critical Variable in America’s Math Strategy.
Fewer than one in three eighth graders are performing at grade level in math. While many strategies focus on in-school interventions like tutoring, they often overlook a deeper issue: students’ confidence and relationship with math. This national brief shares research and real-world examples to show how funders, policymakers, and program leaders can expand access to these opportunities. Read the publication.

Did you know that repeated exposure to the Engineering Design Process through culturally relevant activities can strengthen youth’s STEM identities?
A recent study by Barajas-Salazar, Almeida, Aguirre-Muñoz, and Viveros (2025) explored the impact of repeated exposure to the Engineering Design Process (EDP) through culturally relevant, hands-on, informal science learning activities on underserved middle school students. The results?
- Significant improvements in students' STEM identity, self-efficacy, and perceptions of engineering knowledge after repeated exposure to the EDP
- Students engaged deeply with the EDP and showed enhanced problem-solving skills
Reinforcing STEM identity is crucial to strengthening students’ academic trajectories. While short-term STEM experiences may spark initial interest, this research highlights the importance of sustained engagement with progressively challenging, culturally relevant content to support continued growth in STEM identity and self-efficacy.

- Share girls’ stories: Celebrate their achievements and amplify their voices.
- Advocate for change: Call for policies that protect girls’ rights and enable their leadership.
- Create girl-led spaces: Wherever you have influence, support safe spaces where girls can connect, learn and get the support they need.
- Lend your voice: Call for dedicated funding and programmes that meet the unique needs of girls in crisis situations, including health, education, mental well-being and support for adolescent mothers.
