With the recent passage of new federal legislation and other policy decisions, resources will continue to be available for those having trouble paying their rent or mortgage. Information on new rental assistance resources made available by the state will be announced soon and posted on our website.

New Housing Market Snapshot
The end of year NHHFA Housing Market Snapshot reflects changes in the housing market, as well as the surprising stability it has shown even through the pandemic. Of note are some demographic trends showing a migration of younger adults and families into the state, as well as how the demand for homes to buy and apartments to rent has not abated.

In mid-October, New Hampshire Housing launched a series of virtual presentations by Joe Minicozzi of Urban3. They explored his analysis of property tax revenues in Berlin, Claremont, Concord, Dover, Exeter, Hanover, Hudson, Keene, Laconia, Lebanon, Nashua, Pelham, Peterborough, Portsmouth and Rochester. 64 New Units of Affordable Workforce Housing Coming to Downtown Portsmouth
Portsmouth Housing Authority's groundbreaking for the city's new affordable workforce housing was held this month. There will be 64 units downtown on Court Street at Ruth Lewin Griffin Place, which is expected to be occupied in 2022. The location is easily walkable to jobs, schools and services. Financing for Griffin Place came through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program and other NHHFA sources. Learn more at Portsmouth Housing Authority.

Four individuals will move into these new units in a renovated house in Concord, ending their many years of living without a steady home. New Hampshire Housing provided funding through the federal Housing Trust Fund, rental subsidies from project-based vouchers, as well as state Lead Paint Hazard Remediation funds. $12 Million Grant To Prevent Lead Poisoning
During Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, New Hampshire Housing participated in an event highlighting the $12.3 million in grants awarded to the state from HUD:
- $5.7 million to Nashua
- $4.9 million to New Hampshire Housing
- $1.7 million to Sullivan County
These grants support ongoing efforts to make housing lead-safe, and provide healthy homes interventions for families by working with landlords who own older rental housing stock.

The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program
When you have a Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) with New Hampshire Housing, you may be eligible to participate in our Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS). This program combines HCV assistance with education, support and service coordination for families. Many FSS participants go on to purchase a home, as the Seabrook family pictured here did.

New Mainstream Vouchers Awarded
We were recently awarded 75 new Mainstream Vouchers authorized by the CARES Act. These additional vouchers will provide rental assistance to eligible non-elderly persons with disabilities and their families who are at least 18 years old and less than 62 years old.

The HCV PROGRAM is funded by HUD to assist low-income households obtain safe, decent and affordable housing at privately owned properties. The monthly housing subsidy is paid directly to the property owner. Rental units must pass an annual inspection.
