Collaborative E-News
August 2021
This E-Newsletter specifically outlines statewide collaborative efforts to provide information and resources on the Pyramid Model.
Welcome August!
This month we are continuing to celebrate the work of Pyramid Model implementation sites around the state and sharing resources to support your work.
New Pyramid Model Resource
The National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations (NCPMI) just released a revised "Providing Positive Feedback and Encouragement" Tip Sheet that includes nonverbal encouragement! Some of these forms of positive feedback include: Giving a thumbs up, using a special handshake and imitating a child's sounds or words.

Minds in Motion

Susan Vincent, director from Minds in Motion Inc. Child Care Center (MIM) in Nashua, with support from the Preschool Development Grant has been working with her staff since November 2020 to implement the Pyramid Model with the providers in their program. "...To encourage [staff] participation and model progress toward a final goal," Susan created a series of bulletin boards visible to everyone who enters and exits the building. Sandy Hogan, MIM's Pyramid Model Program Coach, wrote that "The team and the entire staff are very proud of the major changes they have made and the positive outcomes they are seeing with children."

Keene Day Care Center

Beginning in 2018, Keene Day Care Center, began to implement the Pyramid Model at their center, supported by the iSocial State Personnel Development Grant. Suelaine Poling, KDCC’s director said that this past spring, a teacher had an idea to create to create a bulletin board that included art work from both children and families. The teachers invited families to make flowers which were attached to the bulletin board in the main hallway where all could see. They could use the provided template or make their own creation.  The title of the banner read: “Social Emotional Skills Showers Bring Friendship Flowers.” Under the title were raindrops that included photos of the children as they demonstrated various social skills the center has been working on. The idea was that when these social skills happen, children and families grow.
iSocial Update
The iSocial Community Collaboratives have proven to be essential partners in forming and developing the statewide system!
The vision of iSocial has always been to promote state and local collaboration to build a sustainable system where early childhood settings have the resources and access to evidence-based coaching, training, and other supports needed to successfully implement the Pyramid model. The Community Collaboratives have proven to be essential partners in informing and developing this statewide system. Together, with the work and contribution of each Community Collaborative participating in iSocial, this integrated system is becoming a reality.
